The Therapies Department at Northampton General Hospital is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Administration Assistant to join their dynamic team.

We provide care for patients in various settings, such as Surgery, Orthopaedics, Medicine, Stroke, Respiratory, Oncology, and Haematology.

In addition, we offer support for Outpatient Hand Therapy Clinics, Amputees at the Enablement Centre, and The Macmillan Pre-habilitation / Rehabilitation Team.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Hand Therapy and Enablement Centre

    Provide reception service for Hand Therapy and Enablement Centre outpatient services, including patient reception and appointment bookings.

    Manage incoming and outgoing post, maintain clinic diary, and assist in data recording.

    Ensure efficient filing system and provide admin lead support.

    Coordinate stationery supplies and validate invoices.

    Report sickness absences promptly.

  • All Therapy Teams

    Complete template reports for Therapists and offer admin support across all therapy areas.

    Handle document printing, distribution, and file management.

    Book meeting rooms and take meeting minutes as required.

    Communicate effectively with various stakeholders and maintain confidentiality.

    Use electronic patient administrative systems and contribute to governance activities.

    Participate in training and development activities and maintain integrity and confidentiality.

Person Specification

Education, Training, and Qualifications

  • Essential

    Educated to GCSE at Grade C level or equivalent

Desirable

NVQ2 or equivalent experience, RSA2

Knowledge and Experience

  • Essential

    Strong IT skills, effective communication, and courteous telephone manner.

Desirable

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, office procedures, and patient administration system.
