Capacity Planner


I am currently looking for an experienced individual required in Capacity Planning & Design team to help my client achieve the best network status though adequate RAN dimensioning, design and network transformation based on strategy inputs.

The successfulcapacity planner will be working for a well-known established Telecommunications firm based in the heart of the UK & other European locations, so a great opportunity to work for an excellent client.


The Capacity Planner will be expected to:

  • Responsible for ensuring optimal dimensioning of the RAN network to be fit to perform at the best possible levels, within given budget limitations.
  • Driving Network transformation, spectrum refarming projects and legacy technology shutdown.
  • Drive NB-IoT deployment, CatM, mmW 5G and further new technology introductions to the network.
  • Working with the Strategy team on best solutions to deliver what is in their plans.
  • Working with E/// on traffic forecasting models, site solutions and HW capabilities.
  • Working with regional consumer and enterprise business units to ensure that customer feedback is taken into consideration when driving capacity upgrade plans.
  • Driving Planning & Optimisation teams to ensure future radio strategy addresses any negative influences on network performance as well as delivering improving coverage.
  • Ensure Capacity Planning & Design processes are as efficient as possible.
  • Leading improvement initiatives and special focus projects for problem areas within capacity planning and network transformation.
  • Provide direction to Radio planning teams by introducing innovative solutions to complex Radio issues.

The Capicity Planner will possess:

  • Be educated to an Engineering/Science degree level or equivalent
  • Radio Coverage planning / Optimisation experience at a management level.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills including the ability to present complex technical information in plain language to Senior Management
  • Stakeholder management
  • Supplier management.
  • Coaching and developing others
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Ability to deliver to challenging targets and deadlines
  • Extensive Experience of utilising network coverage planning and optimisation tools
  • Extensive experience of network optimisation techniques and processes
  • Experience of using network statistics, networks traces and drive trialling logs to analyse and improve network performance
  • Excellent knowledge of 2G, 3G and 4G network architecture
  • Excellent knowledge of Radio network functionality
