The contracts are primarily for the McGoff Group's asset backed operating businesses in the care and education sectors; New Care and Back to the Garden Childcare, as well as supporting revered clients with their nationwide rollout programmes in the health care and food retail arenas.

We are looking to recruit a Construction Buyer to work in our Procurement team based at our Altrincham Head Office.


Role Responsibilities

  • To place purchase orders with approved suppliers only in accordance with budgets & specification.
  • All orders, quotations etc. to be saved on the server in the relevant project folders.
  • All orders sent to suppliers to be copied to the site team and project QS.
  • To obtain three quotes for all orders as standard procedure.
  • All orders over £500 to be processed using our Material Comparison Sheet with the appropriate approvals obtain.
  • Where applicable, to query material specifications and look for cost effective alternatives and seek approval from both the internal team and the client's representatives prior to orders being placed
  • Liaise with the commercial team in all matters relating to spend and value
  • As and when required you will be required to deal and communicate with the design team both internal and external regarding all material matters that are applicable to the projects you are involved in
  • To ensure their projects Requisition Trackers are regularly kept uptodate.
  • Attend prestart project meetings, issuing Procurement Schedule and Brick & Block Delivery Schedules for completion by site team.
  • Manage and update Procurement Schedule, and distribute to all relevant stakeholders
  • Obtain Material, Plant and Prelim Budget from Site QS
  • Liaise with accounts department with regard to invoice and supplier disputes
  • Attend team meetings (on site and in the office) and report on all buying aspects of the project
  • Collate material aspects of enquiries in conjunction with the estimating department.
  • To update and maintain supplier database as and when required
  • The assistance with O&M Manuals towards the end of each project.
  • Maintain and promote a level of professionalism befitting the department, both internally and with our supply chain partners current and future.

Requirements:

  • An experienced materials and plant buyer with a proven track record of working in a similar role
  • Previous experience within the construction sector is essential
  • Strong IT literacy skills
  • Ability to build good relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
