We are looking for an experienced, friendly, calm person to care for a bright and curious 5 year old boy with quadriplegic cerebral palsy based in Chigwell, IG7.

A driver is essential as you will be expected to carry out the school runs in the family's automatic WAV.

J attends a local school 5 days a week and we are looking for an organised and caring individual to work alongside Mum for two days a week.

He enjoys playing, exploring the world in his power chair, sensory play and watching his favourite TV shows.

He expresses his likes and dislikes through gestures, vocalisation and is beginning to use his AAC device as well as "now and next" cards.

J has epilepsy which is controlled by daily medication.

He is sensory sensitive and can be shy in new situations so we need someone who is calm and can gently build a rapport with him.

He has a team of therapists, and you will be expected to carry out exercises as prescribed by them. Full training is given.

J lives at home with Mum, Dad and his 18 month old brother.

A typical day:

Support with breakfast, personal care and getting ready for school. Drive J to school and accompany J to his teacher.

Return car to J's home.

Return for shift at or 12.00 on Fridays) and prepare activities for afternoon and snack/lunch for return from school.

Drive car to collect J from school. Return home and support J to have a small snack / lunch. Engage in afternoon activities and carry out any exercises as prescribed by treating therapists. Support with tea and bath time.

This is a great opportunity to join a lovely family and therapy team and work in a rewarding post with a wonderful little boy.

There are excellent training opportunities and you will have support from J's case management company.
