The
job purpose is to ensure the successful and timely delivery of Pay & Reward initiatives, statutory reporting obligations, and projects through:

  • Managing large complex data sets, to analyse, audit and extract data to be used for a range of workforce and pay related reporting requirements as and varied stakeholders. E.g. analysis and comparisons of employee and casual pay within pay periods, extracting and manipulating workforce equality data to enable measures against council KPI targets.
  • Specific research and development project work within the Reward, Policy & Strategy Team, to ensure work, projects, and pay related council statutory or instructed reporting duty obligations are delivered to timescales. E.g. Pay Gap reporting and the council's Pay Policy statement.
  • Excel skills & experience to intermediary level, particularly in the use of: Pivot Tables, functions, formulas, VLOOKUP advanced formula options, managing worksheets & workbooks, data cells and ranges, data sorting etc.
  • Demonstrable experience of using excel to understand, manipulate, analyse & report from complex data, and undertake numerical calculations.
  • Proven track record of providing excellent customer service to a range of internal & external stakeholder and managing competing demands/using own initiative.
  • Proven track record of providing excellent general administration support including to a customer service to a range of internal & external stakeholder.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, to communicate effectively as required when engaging with council staff at all levels, and stakeholders external to the council.
  • Understand and interpret written policies and pay schemes to effectively and correctly apply, advise and signpost customers for this role these will include HR Policies (mainly related to pay), Pay schemes (Pay terms in use and Allowance Schemes) and staff benefit offers.
