Energy finance and M&A lawyer for international developed and developing markets

Role supports GE Vernova's Financial Services business (GEVFS) on energy-related project and portfolio finance transactions, M&A transactions, project development and investment platforms, and capital market transactions (encompassing multiple equity and debt capital structures).

Primary focus on renewable, hybrid, thermal, carbon capture and electrification finance, M&A, joint venture and development transactions, including early-to late-stage development projects and platforms.

Exposure to developed and developing market deals and support for energy transition and sustainability initiatives.

Provide advice, counsel, structuring, negotiation, drafting and overall deal management on sophisticated transactions across UK, Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa.

Qualified solicitor in England and Wales or equivalent commonwealth common law jurisdiction

  • 8+ years of post-qualification experience in relevant areas based on experience at a large law firm, financial services firm or corporate legal department
  • Energy / power industry experience with particular expertise in project M&A and financing, including acquisition / sale and intra-sponsor transactions (share purchase agreements, joint development agreements and shareholder agreements) throughout project lifecycle
  • Role will require occasional overseas travel
  • Ability to function independently and effectively as a member of both business teams and the assigned legal organization
Proven success and ability to set priorities and drive projects to conclusion

  • Experience within financial services and / or investment environment, including joint ventures and / or investment funds
  • I nterest and professional curiosity to understand all facets of power projects and the energy transition
  • Supervision and management of outside counsel as needed
