Welcome to the Avis Budget Group EMEA and International Headquarters We are currently seeking a qualified accountant with strong technical skills to join our Finance team as a Senior Financial Accountant in our dynamic EMEA team.

As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a crucial role in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Controllership team. You'll collaborate with a talented UK team, as well as colleagues in various countries across Europe, our global headquarters in Parsippany, New Jersey, and our service center in Budapest, Hungary. This role provides excellent visibility, allowing you to contribute significantly to the reporting process of a multi-entity Business Unit by providing valuable insights to drive business decisions.

Our Controllership team's objective is to act as a strategic partner, making informed decisions, enhancing transparency through financial systems, improving efficiency, reducing risks, accelerating decision-making, and reinforcing financial integrity and accountability.

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will oversee the financial close process to ensure accuracy in reporting within internal and external deadlines. Your responsibilities also involve upholding compliance with the control framework defined by the SOx structure and US GAAP regulations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and analyzing results to communicate insights accurately
  • Implementing consistent application of US GAAP accounting policies across the EMEA Region
  • Maintaining intercompany loan matrix for balanced entities
  • Being a primary contact for ABG Internal and External Reporting inquiries
  • Enhancing close and reporting process efficiencies
  • Upholding an effective control environment and providing guidance to teams
  • Preparing monthly balance flux commentary for group reporting
  • Creating statutory financial statements according to UK GAAP FRS102
  • Supporting external audits and ensuring compliance with SOX regulations
  • Improving processes, managing initiatives, and projects within the EMEA region

Requirements:

  • ACA qualified accountant or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of audit experience with top 20 public accounting firms
  • Experience with FRS 102 and international GAAP (IFRS/U.S. GAAP)
  • Familiarity with a control-focused audit approach
  • Advanced Excel skills, including V-Lookups and Pivot Tables
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective time management, planning, and decision-making abilities
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work
  • Team player with excellent organizational skills
