Using our unique location, you will make a difference through providing high quality RYA training, which will enable young people and adults to progress through the RYA Youth and Adult Schemes.

Working to remove the barriers to accessing these incrediblesports, encouraging staying healthy and giving the skills and confidence to get on the water safely.


Role Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team to deliver a highquality track training.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide reports as required.
  • Report directly to the Senior Instructor Recreation regarding the delivery, review and monitoring of training.

Tasks will include:

  • Planning each training session activity.
  • Delivering RYA courses and experience sessions.
  • Monitoring and reviewing all delivery activity.
  • Risk assessing the sailing area.
  • Supporting the delivery of the quality improvement plan.
  • Managing groups with excellent communication skills, planning and positivity.
  • Confirming course timings, content and ground rules.
  • Ensure participant needs are met.
  • Issuing every course attendee with appropriate next steps.
  • Basic checks and maintenance as required.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • RYA Dinghy Instructor and/or RYA Windsurfing Instructor
  • RYA Powerboat Level Two
  • First Aid qualification
  • Ability to travel Calshot Activities Centre.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Be punctual, reliable, and trustworthy.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • RYA Senior Instructor
  • RYA Safety Boat
  • Experienced in training or instructing young people and adults (training and support will be provided to address any skills gaps).
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety and emergency procedures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding.
  • Knowledge and skills in basic maintenance.
