As an Application Engineer at Discover, you will be responsible for analyzing, developing, and designing solutions for our application software. In our Agile setting, your tasks will include technical design, coding with test automation, support, and documentation of software application changes. By focusing on continuous integration, development, and testing, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of top-notch code. Additionally, you will actively monitor and escalate risks and customer-impacting issues to management on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, design, program, test, and deploy new user stories and features ensuring high quality standards (security, reliability, operations)
  • Provide guidance to Associate Application Engineers, oversee design decisions, and drive the team towards achieving key product outcomes
  • Address issues using engineering principles, develop proactive design solutions for potential failures, and lead technology communities at Discover

Minimum Qualifications:

At a minimum, here's what we need from you:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field
  • For internal candidates: technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale

Preferred Qualifications:

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Experience with Big Data Frameworks such as Spark
  • Cloud Platform expertise, specifically in AWS
  • Proficiency in Java and Python
  • Background in automation
