Job Description/Your Role

An exciting opportunity to join West Yorkshire Police's Information Management team has arisen.


The primary function of this role is to process Data and Information Sharing requests for various stakeholders, on behalf of West Yorkshire Police, to protect children and vulnerable adults, and ensure West Yorkshire Police meet their obligations under current legislation.


The main responsibility of the role is to deliver a customer focussed Data and Information Sharing service, responding to requests received including under statutory gateways, ensuring all requests for disclosure are processed in line with current legislation and force policy, and that local and national deadlines are consistently achieved.

You will evaluate, interpret, and analyse data from multiple force computer systems, prepare disclosure responses and make timely decisions as to the relevance of information in accordance with current legislation and local processes.

This work is transactional, and you will be expected to meet office productivity targets.

You will need:

  • Willingness to undertake and ability to successfully complete IT courses required for the role.
  • Practical experience of IT packages including database use and interrogation.
  • Is able to demonstrate research and analytical skills using them to evaluate information as an aid to making an informed decision.
  • Is able to demonstrate a good standard of written and verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018 and Human Rights Act.
  • Ability to pass aptitude tests at entry level.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for business purposes.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexibly in order to support the work of the Department.
