Job summary

This is an excitingopportunity for an enthusiastic, committed and disciplined assistantpractitioner to join the team. You will be working as part of the ResearchTeam, working on a wide portfolio of studies. You will need to demonstrate theability to organise, prioritise and adjust your workload in relation to requirementsof a range of studies. The post holder must demonstrate the ability to workboth independently and in collaboration with medical staff and clinicalteams. The post involves face-to-facepatient contact as well as coordinating the daily running of studies, whichincludes data collection and handling.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will workwith the research team to provide technical, practical and clinical assistancefor research projects.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary clinical research team, supporting the daily management of research studies under supervision of the Research Midwives/Nurses. The postholder will work across specialities, with the primary speciality being cardiology initially. The post holder will also be expected to develop knowledge and skills and to provide ongoing support to the patients whilst in clinical trials. The post holder will be required to develop skills such as consenting of patients to appropriately delegated research studies.You will be required to provide routine information to patients along with non-routine information about studies and effectively communicate where research lies within the individual patients clinical care pathway. Part of the role will include data collection including data input into electronic databases and other administrative duties. The postholder will ensure that any research undertaken is conducted to ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Standards. You will identify barriers to recruitment and work effectively with other staff groups to overcome these barriers. This is a diverse and demanding role which requires an enthusiastic and flexible individual. The post requires the ability to travel independently, therefore access to a car and full driving licence is essential.The role is part of a large and growing research team with the potential to develop further in the future.

NVQ3 in scientific/healthcare discipline with relevant experience of working within a research environment Foundation Degree in a relevant subject
