Weekend Paediatric Support Worker
Belle is a 12-year-old girl who lives with her parents and younger siblings. Belle has cerebral palsy meaning she has difficulty with movement, speech and feeding. She has a PEG for food and medication. She uses a hoist for all transfers and has specialist equipment at home.
Despite these challenges, Belle is a happy girl who loves the company of others, being with her family and spending time in her sensory room and having pamper sessions.
We are looking for someone to enable Belle to continue to enjoy life while also ensuring that she is happy, safe, supported and thriving.
Belle needs a high level of support to meet all her personal care needs, as well as maintaining her home environment and administering her medication.
If you think that you would be a great person for this role, here is a bit more about what you will be doing:
- Support Belle with all her daily needs.
- Plan and engage in fun and stimulating activities within the family home, in the garden and the local community so that Belle can enjoy a variety of activities.
- Work closely with Belle, her family, her team of therapists, Team Leader, and Case Manager to ensure she is supported with mobility, nutrition, medication and personal care you will get full training so that you are confident with all aspects of this. You will also complete shadow shifts to inform your practice.
- Be actively involved in the implementation of Belle's therapy programmes.
- Travel with Belle to and from activities in her wheelchair accessible vehicle.
- Be able to build positive and professional relationships with Belle, her family, her existing support team, and external professionals.
- Efficiently maintain daily records and updates and communicate effectively with Belle's family, her existing support team, the Case Manager and therapy team.
- Provide support with housework and managing her immediate environment.
- Continuously support Belle's with her physical challenges and appreciate the need to safeguard and promote her wellbeing, comfort and safety.
What experience do you need?
We are looking for someone who has experience of working withchildren with disabilities.
Having knowledge of PEG feeding is an advantage, though we can provide training on this if you do not have this experience.
You will be working in Belle's home and thus you must maintain confidentiality and privacy for Belle and her family at all times.
Full training will be given, but it is essential that you are a positive person, who as well as being professional and dynamic, needs to be caring and kind in your approach.
Hours and Pay
You will work at weekends from 8am until 6pm with another support worker, or Belle's parents.
You will work on a permanent contract.
Whilst ideally the family would like one worker to work all of these days, they are realistic that this is likely to be a shared role, and therefore if you're able to work some days, but not every weekend day please do still apply.
In addition, there may be the opportunity to work additional hours at other times to cover holiday and other absences.

£17.50 per hour
Bank Holidays:
£25.50 per hour
