Female Support Worker

Location: Bromley, Southeast London

Hours: Term time only:
Monday – Friday 4.00pm – 8.00pm
Saturdays: 10.00am – 5.00pm

The above hours may be required during half- term school holidays; however, support is not required during the Easter, Summer, or Christmas school holiday periods.

Pay:

  • £18.00 per hour, Monday to Friday
  • £20.00 per hour, Weekends
  • £27.00 per hour, Bank Holidays

Essential Experience: Previous experience of working with young adults with special needs, as well as enthusiasm, patience and willingness to learn.
Desirable Experience:
Experience working with young adults with trauma and an interest in therapy.

Interviews and Start Date: As and when applications are received, these may be carried out by video interview and looking to start as soon as possible however will wait for the right applicant (subject to satisfactory employment checks).

Introducing Sharon

Sharon is a young woman born in 2005, and loves spending time outside and particularly in green places where there are lots of trees to look at. She loves music and TV and particularly enjoys watching orchestras playing on TV and Beethoven is a favourite. She also enjoys her hydrotherapy sessions in the warm pool. She lives at home with her parents and attends a local special needs school.

Sharon who has profound and multiple learning and behavioural difficulties arising from brain injuries at the time of her birth; requiring complete assistance and guidance with all aspects of her daily living, learning and care tasks.

Sharon is looking for a Support Worker to meet all aspects of her care and support after school hours, as well as some hours during the weekend and school holidays. The Support Worker is expected to implement care as advised by her parents and a team of therapists and record information relating to this as advised.

The Support Worker will need to be confident about working in a family home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of Sharon and her family.An ability to demonstrate the need for confidentiality and privacy is very important.We are seeking somebody who is reliable and trustworthy with a good sense of humour.

You will be joining a small care team where you will be taking direction from Sharon's parents and the Case Manager to ensure that she receives all the care she needs. Sharon will require assistance with all of her daily living and household chores, you will need to keep Sharon engaged at all times.

This job will suit someone who is calm but very proactive and able to bring lots of enthusiasm to the role, this is wonderful opportunity to join a supportive family and care team where you can make a real difference to Sharon's life by maximising her opportunities and promoting her independence wherever possible, a truly rewarding role for someone who is able to communicate effectively and an ability to work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth and compassion.

Benefits:
  • Pay rates: £18.00 to £27.00 per hour depending on shift (full pay rates listed above)

In order to promote continuity of our high care standards, you will be offered:
