A new challenge awaits a suitably qualified Detective Inspector in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight Constabulary - Join our Intelligence, Tasking and Development Command as our Covert Intelligence DI.


Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is looking for an ethical, effective and accredited Detective Inspector to join our Covert Operations team.

We are a large force which has maintained a police family culture.


This is a new post which will support the force's intelligence development and covert capabilities in delivering operational activity across HIOWC.

The post holder will supervise the HSU, force OpSy and intelligence development teams.

Some of the key role requirements will be:

  • Develop and encourage regional collaboration through the RSCC building strong regional links to support force delivery, including liaison with SETSU to effectively use covert capabilities at Lvl 1 and Lvl
  • Provide force scrutiny to Surveillance tasking's, ensuring force priorities are met through prioritisation and deconfliction.
  • Provide SIO oversight to the intelligence development teams.
  • Supervise the threat to life intelligence cell, force intelligence development team and provide covert coordination to Lvl 1 work through these teams.
Manage, drive and report on team performance in line with force priorities and objectives.

This is an exciting new post which will help shape future covert policing across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

  • You must be a serving police officer from a Home Office Force with no current performance or conduct concerns.
  • Hold the appropriate qualifications for your rank.
  • Competent Detective Inspector (PIP2).
  • Hold a valid UK drivers licence.

Successful applicants will need to;:

Satisfy all the relevant eligibility criteria and pre employment checks including, medical screening, vetting and a fitness test.

Be available to attend a 1 week (dependent on your skills transfer) transferee course.


Once you have completed this process and accepted our offer, we will contact your existing force for information including pension, salary, service, training and unpaid leave.
