Support Worker

To undertake a wide range of duties which will involve direct and indirect care of young people who have complex mental health needs within Care in Mind Residential homes and various other settings e.g., school/leisure activities.

To conduct multiple interventions involving the delivery of care to young people and to promote their independence ensuring continuity of care in accordance with Care in Mind policies and procedures

DUTIES
1) To work in collaboration with other health care professionals both internally and externally in providing the highest standard of care possible to all the young people with mental health needs.

2) To implement and adhere to the care plans and individualised risk management plans for all young people in our care.

3) To support the young people with all aspects of personal care as outlined within their care plans.

To complete tasks such as encouraging prominent levels of personal hygiene, meal preparation and wound care, respecting dignity, privacy, and rights as far as possible.

4) To support young people with first aid and wound care as required within individual risk management plans and care in mind's policies.

5) To assist in creating a safe, clean, and secure environment to the highest standards of health and safety for all young people, relatives, and colleagues. To complete aspects of the daily cleaning routine for the home.

Enable young people to gain independence, confidence, and competence in the following areas:

Social skills/relationships, Personal care and hygiene, Daily living skills, Using community resources and facilities, Social, leisure and work activities, Self-organisation and coping abilities and Personal safety.

To achieve this through practical assistance, support, teaching, advice, role modelling, encouragement, and positive feedback.

7) To transport and/or escort the young people as required as part of their care plans, to places such as out of hours GP surgeries, hospital settings, places of activity that the young people have attended.

8) Once trained to provide and perform clinical duties necessary to meet the young people's health needs on a daily basis. Ensure that young people are receiving advice, care, and regular health checks to ensure their physical and mental wellbeing. Promote nutrition, relaxation, exercise, and healthy lifestyles.

9) To adhere to the activities programme to ensure the young people receive a variety of daily stimulation and development. To promote a healthy, positive sleep hygiene routines for all young people.

10) To safely and competently, administer medication to the young people in accordance with their prescription and care in mind's policy. To adhere to all medication administration processes such as ordering, storing, and recording on the electronic MAR charts.

11) To complete daily checks on medication and finances and report any discrepancies to the home management team.

12) To complete clearly written, accurate, contemporaneous records of involvement with young people and their families. Ensure documentation is up to date, accurate and completed daily, adhering to the code of practice.

13) To participate in the handover process of the home and ensure all documentation is accurate and reflective of the daily activities.

Salary:
From £11.54 per hour

Day range:

  • Monday to Friday

Shift:

  • Night shift
  • Overnight shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Preston: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
