We are currently recruiting for a Programmer Analyst to join the Modern Banking Platform team at FIS. This position is Edinburgh-based and suited to entry level joiners who aspire to develop a successful career with a leading fintech company

About the team

You will join the Modern Banking Platform delivery team within Banking Solutions at FIS.

We already have a team of deeply technical developers who unblock major challenges with our deliveries.

We can offer a technical role where troubleshooting / problem determination is at the heart of what we do.

We typically operate in non-production with the latest versions of the Modern Banking Platform software but on occasion have to provide adhoc troubleshooting for major upgrades.

We can offer working with some of the best technical full stack devs in FIS and learning from them.

We need your passion for technology and learning to be part of our commitment to improving quality and efficiency.

What you will be doing

  • Learn from our team of amazing SMEs and super experienced devs
  • Learn about the tech stack and the software solution we are running
  • Learn about the client and their goals
  • Responsible for delegated work from the team leads
  • Troubleshooting
  • Improvement initiatives
  • Responsible for working using our process tools (Jira/Confluence/SNOW)
  • Responsible for working within our operating model (standups/escalation process/defect management process)
  • Responsible for making a positive contribution to the Modern Banking Platform delivery team

Who we are looking for

  • You have a bachelor's degree, ideally Computer Science or STEM subject
  • You are passionate about working in IT and becoming an IT SME
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), listening and rapport building skills
  • Good knowledge of at least one language – Python or Java preferred – ideally both
  • Good knowledge of SQL
  • Entry level proficiency of modern hosting using docker/Kubernetes
  • Entry level proficiency knowledge of cloud – ideally azure
  • Entry level proficiency knowledge of linux command line
  • Able to demonstrate university projects or home projects where some of the above was used
  • You aspire to develop a successful technical career within the FinTech industry
