About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst Programmer to join our team at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh. As a key member of our SEBI-Livestock team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development and implementation of data-driven solutions to improve decision making in low- and middle-income countries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines to process livestock data
  • Develop and maintain scripts to automate and test data processing workflows
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure code is version controlled, validated, and robust
  • Support the automation and running of livestock models and analyses
Requirements
  • Educated to degree level in a numerical discipline such as Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent
  • Demonstrable experience of R programming and modular code
  • Basic knowledge and experience of Python and SQL databases
  • Good knowledge and experience of data science technologies and software engineering practices
  • An interest in exploring the application of new technologies, including Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning

SEBI-Livestock is a dynamic and innovative organisation hosted by the Roslin Institute and Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh. We offer a collaborative, fast-paced environment with opportunities for learning, growth, and the chance to contribute to addressing real-world challenges.

This is a full-time position (35 hours per week), with the possibility of part-time or flexible working arrangements. We are open to considering requests for hybrid working that combines remote and on-campus working. The post holder is expected to attend our weekly in-person team meetings at Easter Bush Campus.
