Main details of the role include but are not limited to: Leading and setting high standards of professional education and maintaining the delivery of quality training as part of the standard set with the Nursing Education Strategy. Ensuring that the Unit Objectives and Values are embedded with day-to-day practice and education packages. Providing strong professional leadership to staff within the education sphere, including motivating staff to set Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic & Timely (SMART) objectives that include the golden thread from Unit to Individual. Leading on the evaluation of training, the development, implementation and evaluation of the Nursing Education Strategy and training provided.

Acting as a professional role model as the Clinical Educator, ensuring the education ensures safe patient care. Working collaboratively to enable quality improvement, especially when education can be utilised to improve patient safety within the Organisation. Acting as a mentor/ supervisor for junior staff. Having good knowledge of legal and ethical issues and dealing appropriately with these in clinical practice.
