About the Position: Essex County Council is undergoing a transformation to enhance outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The goal is to create a system that identifies needs early and provides effective support, reducing reliance on statutory services.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted intervention to families and professionals during periods of change and transition.
  • Promote collaborative and person-centered approaches to ensure pupil and family input is central to planning.
  • Facilitate information sharing to inform planning for children and young people.
  • Support partnerships among educational staff, families, and stakeholders to achieve common goals.
  • Empower children and families to actively participate in decision-making processes.
  • Act as a model of good practice and information conduit for collaborative work.
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate training opportunities for educational staff.
  • Establish links across Education to promote effective planning practices.
  • Define and work towards annual performance targets.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Possess RQF Level 2 of the SEN awards or equivalent experience.
  • Continuing professional development in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and its impact on daily assessment and planning.
  • Extensive experience working with children with SEND in school or home settings.
  • Effective partnership work with families and professionals in multi-agency environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to develop skills, chair meetings, and deliver training.

Additional Requirement: The position requires mobility within the operational area, therefore, a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are needed.
