Childhood First enables children and young people to recover from early life abuse and relational trauma, to enjoy life and to achieve their potential.

We do this through the provision of specialist therapeutic residential care and treatment, together with family and network support.

We are also a UKCP Training Organisational Member accredited with Middlesex University, providing in-house clinical training to its clinical staff.


Merrywood House is our registered Children's Home and Therapeutic Community in Norfolk for up to eight young people, children and young people, aged 10 to 17 who present severe emotional and behavioural issues as a result of attachment difficulties usually rooted in early life trauma.


What you'll bring to the role:

  • Support to the Director and Deputy Director in leading Merrywood House Therapeutic Community.
  • Clinical expertise and focus on the planning and delivery of a therapeutic service.
  • A high level of communication skills and a methodical approach to work.
  • Experience of assessment methods and psychodynamic work with children, adolescents or families. You will also have the capacity for insight into individual and group behaviour and a willingness to consider self in relationship with others and in terms of impact on the work.

Task:

  • Contribute to the process of assessing potential referrals and contribute to the holistic assessment of needs of children, families and networks.
  • Provide support to key workers in their writing of monthly reports, review reports and collating assessment data to support the individual outcomes for each child. Prepare with key workers leaving plans for the children and young people in their transition from Merrywood House.
  • Attending community events, including our yearly community holiday.
