Job summary

Applications are invited from motivated and experienced nurses who have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and are able to work autonomously across a variety of different areas both within the hospital and the Community settings. The post holder will have a broad nursing experience and have completed or be willing to undertake master level study. They will need to be able to demonstrate a problem solving approach and be required to deal effectively with issues as well as promote and develop high quality evidence based, patient focused nursing practice.

The post holder will support the Lead nurse for practice education in directing the strategic professional and clinical development of nursing practice and innovation to improve the patient experience and clinical outcomes. Experience in managing staff is essential as is experience in change management and facilitating audits.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist with meeting the responsibilities shared by the Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS Trusts, Private and Independent sector to provide high quality practice placements to meet the requirements of students on NHS and HEFCE funded healthcare training programmes.

They will also support the Lead Nurse for Practice Education in directing the strategic professional and clinical development of nursing practice and innovation to improve the patient experience and clinical outcomes, working according to the NMC and relevant professional bodies and Trust guidelines to provide, promote and develop high quality evidence based, patient focused nursing practice.

Job description

Job responsibilities

In collaboration with education providers, assist in the management of the portfolio of student placements within the Trust.

To expand practice placement opportunities as necessary across a broad range of disciplines/professional areas in conjunction with the CCG and partner educational institutions.

Work in collaboration with PPFs in other Trusts to maintain the entire portfolio of Practice Placements for NHS commissioned courses.

To contribute to ensuring the quality of existing placements by identifying areas of good practice and establishing the professional development needs of practice assessors and practice supervisors.

To provide support and guidance to practice assessors and practice supervisors and to students, particularly in relation to highlighting potential problems in placement areas.

To support and facilitate the development of clinical practice by providing clinical and nursing leadership.

Promote a culture that supports clinical audit and research across the professions of Nursing, Midwifery & Quality.

Develop and deliver educational programmes related to developing and improving practice across the organisation, to multi-professional staff groups.

To support the development of improved risk management processes relating to clinical practice across the profession.

Qualifications

Essential

1st level registered nurse with NMC live registration Educated to graduate level in Nursing Masters level study or equivalent experience

Post graduate diploma in education

In-depth Knowledge of Student nurse curriculum Leadership skills, change management and the ability to lead by example Expert in SSSA standards and significant experience as a practice assessor Evidence of analytical thinking and problem solving techniques to resolve difficult situations
