We are seeking to appoint an infectious diseases researcher based in The Gambia who will work remotely with Prof Kat Holt's team (see ) to investigate transmission of _Klebsiella pneumoniae_ in neonatal units in Africa using genomic epidemiology.

The successful applicant will contribute to clinical interpretation of study data, and help to establish a Community of Practice on investigating pathogen transmission in neonatal units in low-resource settings.


The successful applicant will have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic, and relevant experience in the clinical investigation of neonatal sepsis etiology, bacterial pathogen transmission, and infection prevention and control, in neonatal care settings in Africa.

They will have evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, evidence of good organizational skills, including effective time management.

The post is part-time (0.2 FTE), funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation until 30 April 2025 and is available from 1 May 2024.
