The Head of Maintenance and Engineering will provide technical support and advice to the managed office, civic headquarters, and other operational space for the council, supporting some 3500 people including staff, contractors, and tenants to deliver hard facilities management (FM) services through an in-house FM delivery team supported by an approved list of appointed framework contractors.

The post holder will support the Head of Estates Services in planning for the council's future FM services provision and lead the maintenance & engineering team.

You will have overall responsibility for the service delivery of Hard FM services and monitor and manage a supply chain of contractors against a defined set SLA's and KPI's.

Experience in having managed large maintenance and engineering teams/projects is essential.1. Knowledge and understanding of Building Services functions, issues, solutions and best practice approaches2. Strong business awareness/knowledge of operational management issues3. Experience of commissioning providers, including commercial procurement and contract management4. Knowledge of coordinating activities of a range of building and property professionals to agreed outcomes across a varied portfolio5. Ability to plan, manage and deliver building maintenance work programs on time and within budget6. Ability to demonstrate leadership in emergency situations and to formulate appropriate responses based on sound technical knowledge7. Experience of managing budgets to agreed outcomes and within a 'value-for-money' environment8. Knowledge of maintenance contracts and ability to deliver expectations and outcomes9.

Ability to lead and manage an in-house buildings maintenance/engineering teamIn your application, please ensure that you address each of the essential skills above by providing examples of how you meet these.
