Our client, a well-established pharmaceutical company operating in the UK and Europe, specializes in developing, producing, marketing, and distributing generic medicines. They are dedicated to offering high-quality pharmaceuticals to the healthcare industry, focusing on cost efficiency and reliable supply. Currently, they are seeking a Head of Engineering to take charge of engineering operations at one of their key manufacturing facilities.

As the **Head of Engineering**, your role will involve overseeing all engineering activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing strategic leadership and guidance to the engineering team
  • Recruiting, developing, and mentoring engineering personnel
  • Setting clear goals and objectives for the engineering department
  • Supervising the design, installation, and maintenance of pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and facilities
  • Establishing and executing preventive maintenance programs
  • Collaborating with various teams to support manufacturing operations and enhance processes
  • Staying updated on regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Ensuring adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Health and Safety regulations, and other guidelines
  • Participating in regulatory inspections and audits
  • Identifying opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction
  • Leading engineering projects to improve manufacturing capabilities and implement new technologies
  • Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and measuring the impact of improvement initiatives
  • Managing the engineering department budget effectively
  • Evaluating capital expenditure proposals and making recommendations for investments
  • Negotiating contracts with suppliers and service providers

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience in a leadership role in the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on engineering and manufacturing
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, equipment, and regulatory requirements
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering/manufacturing software tools and technologies
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience
