We are hiring for a Support Worker position in CB4

  • Salary: £13 per hour


About the service user:

We are looking for someone to support a 6-year-old boy who is Autistic, non-verbal, and has sensory-seeking behavior along with PICA disorder. The child enjoys being active, playing with water, bubbles, and sensory lighting, as well as having his own space.


Hours and rate of Pay:

  • Up to 137 hours available for weekends and school holidays, paid at £13 per hour.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance required.

Responsibilities:

Initially, the role involves supporting the child in the home environment, engaging in sensory play, and broadening his interests. The goal is to eventually participate in community activities after building rapport with the child and his family.


Requirements:

  • Prior experience in supporting individuals with learning disabilities in the community.
  • Knowledge of Autism, PICA disorder, and associated challenging behaviors.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to communicate using simple language.
  • Patience, calmness, and a reassuring nature.
  • Interactive and encouraging approach to help improve and develop skills.
  • Commitment to building trust and rapport.
  • Driving license and access to a vehicle preferred for future community activities (mileage will be reimbursed).
