Robert Gordon's College is looking for a fantastic, passionate, and experienced librarian to lead our Senior School Library starting in August. This full-time permanent position operates during term-time and is open to job-sharing.

The Role

The ideal candidate will be a dedicated team player who adores literature and learning, eager to support students in their independent learning journey. They must have the motivation and dynamism to enhance the school's prominent library and stay current with library management trends and e-book advancements. Collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team for future progress is essential.

The Head of Senior School Library will manage the day-to-day operations and lead the Library & Archives Team, overseeing a bustling Senior School. The role requires setting an example, contributing to pastoral care, and engaging in extracurricular activities.

Key Tasks

Tasks include:

  • Managing the Senior School Library
  • Collaborating with all school departments to facilitate resource access
  • Handling the Library Management System (Softlink Oliver)
  • Organizing book fairs and author visits
  • Promoting literacy and reader development
  • Updating displays and notices
  • Assisting with inquiries and IT
  • Supervising pupils during school hours and breaks
  • Choosing and managing resources for the staff and careers library
  • Communicating closely with the Junior School Librarian
