We are currently looking for an Associate Scientist to join our Particle Size Characterisation and Analysis team.


As a team member of Particle Size Characterisation and Analysis, you are responsible for executing experiments using established Particle Size Analysis methods to support accelerating development and delivery of innovative medicines.


The environment is technical and dynamic, collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams for all phases of drug product lifecycle to understand the relationship between particle size and Drug Product performance.

In this position you will be based at our site in Ware UK with occasional travel to our Stevenage UK site.


In this role you will

  • Execute experiments using established protocols and carry out basic interpretation of results with mínimal supervision. Includes release testing, stability testing, method validation and method transfer.
  • Perform data management and some data interpretation tasks including recording results effectively in a laboratory notebook with mínimal supervision.
  • Prepare brief oral or written summary of results with interpretation to share data with small teams.
  • Comply with cGMP and Safety regulations and GSK policies for data integrity and documentation management. Support for qualification and maintenance of analytical instrument to comply with cGMP standards.

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • BSc (or equivalent) in Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:

  • Laboratory experience within a cGMP environment
  • Experience with interrogating, troubleshooting, interpreting and trending analytical data
  • Experience in method validation and method transfers
  • Technical knowledge and/or practical experience in the use of laser diffraction
  • Technical knowledge and/or experience in other particle size techniques e.g., image analysis, Dynamic Light Scattering, Centrifugal Liquid Sedimentation
