The Jewellery Collective is on a mission to build a strong, active, diverse & member-driven community. A members association which is accessible to all, we aim to break down barriers, share valuable industry knowledge, build trust and foster business relationships within the UK jewellery industry. Our events and activities are designed to be safe and supportive spaces where people can network, learn from each other, and build relationships.

We work mostly remotely and are volunteer-led (The Jewellery Collective Executive Team). We expect the post holder to work some evenings. There is an expectation that you can travel around London, organise and deliver most of our in person events in London.

We're looking for a passionate and energetic freelance part-time Community Manager to join our team and play a vital role in fostering a thriving community around our jewellery collective. You'll be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive online and offline engagement strategy to deliver our event and knowledge accelerator programme (July-December). This program aims to connect with new audiences, including both aspiring and established jewellers.

Personal Specification

  • Proven track record of building and nurturing partnerships to achieve business goals.
  • Strong project management skills to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Writing reports.
  • Community outreach activities online and in person/in communities.
  • Support workshops and facilitation work.
  • Creating presentation decks and proposal for partnership work and business development opportunities
  • Self-starter with a proven ability to work independently in a remote setting.
  • Excellent content creation skills for crafting engaging newsletters and social media posts.
  • Proactive approach with the initiative to identify and pursue new opportunities.
  • Strong presentation and written communication skills to effectively connect with audiences.
  • Availability to work evenings (a lot of our activities are in the evenings).
  • Demonstrable experience in marketing strategies to reach new audiences.
  • Some background knowledge of the jewellery industry is a plus (desirable).
  • Some background in brand or corporate partnerships is a plus (desirable).

Hours

  • This is a freelance role, with a commitment of 3 days per week (21 hours) £150 day rate/per day

Responsibilities

  • Event & Knowledge Accelerator Programme Delivery
  • Oversee the successful execution of the online events (twice a month) programme (July-December).
  • Manage the planning and execution of 1-2 in-person events per month (July-December) in various locations, including Brighton, Birmingham, and Scotland. This includes securing venues, managing logistics, and identifying speakers for these events.
  • Coordinate with speakers for outreach events and talks at jewellery schools and industry events to promote the knowledge accelerator programme.

Community Building & Outreach

  • Develop and implement a strategy for online and real-life outreach to attract new audiences and jewellers to participate in the programme.
  • Manage and grow our online communities on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
  • Create engaging content (newsletters, social media posts) to promote the events, showcase member work, and share industry insights relevant to the knowledge accelerator programme.
  • Develop a content plan aligned with the event schedule and the programme's learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with community members (masterclasses) to curate valuable learning resources that support the knowledge accelerator programme.

Partnerships & Sponsorships

  • Build relationships with new venue partners to secure locations for future events relevant to the programme.
  • Cultivate sponsorship opportunities to support the growth of the collective and the programme.

Board Development

  • Assist in recruiting and onboarding new members for the Board of Advisors.

This is a freelance role

As an independent contractor, you will be responsible for all aspects of your own taxes and compliance with HMRC regulations. This includes registering as self-employed, filing tax returns, and paying National Insurance contributions.

We recommend that you consult with an accountant familiar with freelance work to ensure you understand your tax obligations and set up the necessary systems for managing them.
