Intake: October

Choosing Capgemini means choosing a company where you will be empowered to shape your career in the way you'd like, where you'll be supported and inspired by a collaborative community of colleagues around the world, and where you'll be able to reimagine what's possible. Join us and help the world's leading organisations unlock the value of technology and build a more sustainable, more inclusive world.

YOUR ROLE

The UK Mechanical & Physical Engineering Unit provides mechanical engineering services to a range of customers across the aerospace, defence, energy and automotive sectors. The unit is approximately 170 people in size and is enjoying strong growth with a number of customers. We therefore require graduate and early career team members to join our team, benefit from the significant experience of our existing team and become part of the future of the unit.
The Mechanical & Physical Engineering Unit is just one part of the Capgemini Engineering business which totals approximately 1000 employees in the UK and 70,000 globally, giving significant opportunities for personal development, be it within the Mechanical & Physical unit in the UK or within the wider UK and global businesses.

Your Role

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work across a number of our engineering teams in order to gather broad experience and knowledge of our business.

• Analysis: provide computer aided engineering support to a number of aerospace and nuclear customers. Disciplines include finite element structural and thermal analysis and computational fluid dynamics

• Design: offers design, digital mock-up (CAD) and drafting and definition services to a range of aerospace and naval customers

• Producibility: provides management, expert analysis, and manufacturing engineering support to aerospace customers to reduce waste and improve quality of manufacturing production

• Supply Chain: Offers quality support, supplier development and logistics support.

• Materials & Processes: materials engineering and qualification services to multiple aerospace customers

• Verification and Validation: Provides test and validation services for rolling-stock customers. The team works hands-on with the hardware in a shop floor environment as well as offering planning, management and quality control services.

Capgemini Engineering provides a hybrid working environment with a mix of home and office working expected to provide a good balance between delivery for our customers and personal work. The majority of our teams are located in the Bristol and Derby areas and some flexibility on working location is required. We will be operating this intake in conjunction with other engineering units within the business offering you the opportunity to build a network.

YOUR PROFILE

Candidates should have an enthusiasm for engineering and its application to solve difficult problems on behalf of our customers. They should have excellent communication skills, be comfortable working as part of a team and be able to professionally represent the Capgemini Engineering brand in front of clients. Technical training will be provided, however strong IT skills and programming/scripting skills are an advantage. A degree in a related engineering field (mechanical, aerospace, aeronautics, material science etc) is ideal, but applications from other technical degree courses (e.g. physics, mathematics, chemistry) will also be considered.

WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT WORKING HERE

Join our diverse and vibrant organisation, with a culture that fosters a sense of belonging. Our inclusive environment and employee networks support you, we want you to have opportunities to build a career with meaningful work and strong connections. Experience the benefits of our strong commitment to autonomy and embrace flexible working practices.

Note:
You will have lived in the UK for the last five years with no more than 6 months out of the country (in order to meet security clearance requirements). You may be required to work away from home during the week after the initial training period.

EMPOWER PROGRAMME

As a graduate at Capgemini, you will embark on our two-year Empower Programme which aims to equip you with the capabilities that you need to succeed in this rapidly changing world of work. In learning pods, you will develop your emotional intelligence, refine your communication skills, tackle business challenges set by our Country Board, and even use your skills and knowledge to solve problems for our charity partners. Empower offers experiential learning that aims to transform your understanding into tangible skills.

Throughout the programme, you will have the opportunity to connect with graduates from across the business, interact with our senior leaders, and hear from a wealth of experts. These experts range from Times bestselling authors and qualified coaches, right the way through to a military commander and Mt. Everest climber.

Our Empower Programme also includes:

• Career progression model – giving you more frequent opportunities to progress.

• Mentoring programme – allowing you to get ahead and leverage the support of others.

• Regular social events across the UK – offering you the chance to meet people from our early talent community.

• Annual awards – recognising high performers and those making an impact.

• Community Connect sessions – taking place virtually and based on key cultural themes.

• Volunteering opportunities – through use of your contractual 'Giving Back' days.

The programme complements the role-specific training that you will receive in post and acts as your springboard to continuous professional development. Are you ready to #GetTheFutureYouWant?
