Do you have what it takes to transform society?
We are currently looking for talented and motivated Graduate Civil Engineers to join our growing civil design team in Bristol as part of a multi-disciplinary department providing detailed designs for water related projects in the UK. This role can be worked flexibly with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office and the option of adjusted start and finish times.
What does the role involve?
At Sweco, we draw upon a combined knowledge base of 22,000 experts across Northern Europe. More technologies, more skills, and more inventive solutions mean we can apply global knowhow, locally across the full spectrum of lifecycle services in both water engineering and wider water management. More importantly, we have a proven record of transferring innovation from other countries and sectors into the UK water industry – not least in our work on AMP7 Frameworks with 7 of the 12 UK water and sewerage companies.
Our water engineering consultants are world leaders, meeting increasing demands for drinking water, waste recycling and operational technology asset management.
Through innovative and TOTEX focused solutions Sweco is helping client's outperform business plan targets both in terms of cost and embedded/operational carbon. Our commitment is future focused, finding solutions for the future's challenges, today.
We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Graduate Civil Engineer to join the Bristol Water team. As a Graduate Civil Engineer you'll work closely with experienced civil, electrical and mechanical engineers along with colleagues in other disciplines from across the wider Water Business Unit in the UK and Ireland to deliver projects by:
- Assisting with the development of outline and detailed designs and specifications for civil engineering works.
- Providing day to day technical input as part of a team of engineers and technicians.
- Ensuring your design output is completed in accordance with the agreed scope of works, timescales and budgets.
- Working in close collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines as required to deliver project requirements and added value to the Client.
Working with us will give you the opportunity to develop by working on landmark projects and schemes of all shapes and sizes to help our clients tackle climate change and improve the UK's natural water resource. You will learn from experienced people who share a passion for working together with our customers to deliver technical excellence and as you develop be given opportunity to work more independently.
As a graduate at Sweco you will be enrolled on the Graduate Scheme which will provide the opportunity to visit other UK offices, socialise with other Sweco Graduates and provide you with the soft skills to succeed within your role and the wider business.
This is an exciting time to join Sweco and if you want to be part of a company who is small in all the best ways but large enough to provide a diverse and exciting workload, this job is for you.
To be successful in this role you will be:
A talented, motivated, enthusiastic Civil Engineering Graduate who has either recently graduated or will be doing so in 2024. Have a desire to be part of the answer to the growing concerns about how we manage our precious resources and protect the environment in a sustainable and effective way.
What's in it for you?
From the moment you join us, you will receive the training you need. You will be assigned a mentor, who will guide you to meet the objectives for your professional training agreement. We will support you on your journey to gaining professional recognition with your chosen institution. Our aim is to make you feel "happy at work" in line with our People Plan strategy.
Based in the heart of Bristol's bustling city centre, our office provides an excellent hub for our employees, with regular social events and activities. You'll experience a diverse, inclusive, friendly and flexible working environment where colleagues are encouraged to grow and develop. A meaningful job where you'll help to transform society by being a trusted consultant to our clients.
If you believe you have the skill sets required and are keen to join a business with genuine opportunities for career progression, then we'd love to hear from you.
