The Role:


This is an opportunity to join a CAMHS locality team providing mental services to children, young people and their families.

NHSL provides good opportunities for training and development

To provide a high quality service to children and young people and their families, who present with moderate to severe mental health difficulties, within a locality CAMHS Team.

This includes working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the department's policies and procedures including -
:

- the assessment of young people and their families referred to the Service
- the provision of therapeutic interventions to these young people and their families utilising a range of therapeutic modalities as required. The post holder will be expected to work with the full range of presenting difficulties referred to the Team.
- the provision of consultation to other agencies relating to a young person's mental health needs
- to provide clinical advice and support to other CAMHS staff as delegated by the Team manager

Additional Information Specific to the Role
This post is based in a locality CAMHS Team providing services within the geographical area of Lanarkshire. These are well established multi disciplinary team including psychiatrist, clinical psychologists and CAMHC's.


NHS Lanarkshire CAMHS provide a service to infants, children and young people up to the age of 18 if they are still in secondary education.

The service comprises

  • Four locality CAMHS teams providing a service for children and young people presenting with moderate to severe difficulties.
  • Six functional teams providing a service to specific groups of children and their families or carers i.e. CAYP Team working with looked after and accommodated young people, Reach Out working with children whose lives are affected by parental mental illness, the Eating Disorder, CAMHS Unscheduled Intervention Team and the Paediatric Psychology Team based in Wishaw General Hospital and work with children with long term conditions.
  • The CAMHS Intensive Treatment Team (CITT) who provide home based intensive treatment service to young people as an alternative to hospital admission or to facilitate earlier discharge.
  • Nursing Outreach Team

What we'll need you to bring:

Registered Nurse, AHP or Social Worker or be a qualified as a child trained Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology (CAAP) evidence of relevant experience and appropriate post registration training that fulfils the competences of this post

Further education/evidence of continuous professional development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification.

Educated to /operating at Masters Degree Level.


Educated to or undertaking Post Graduate Certificate / Diploma Qualification level in an evidence based psychological therapy/appropriate intervention as recognised in the National Psychological Therapies Matrix for the intended client group.


The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.

Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.

Excellent time-management skills

Proficient in the use of Microsoft IT Packages

It would be great if you also have:

Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team

Evidence of personal contribution to service planning and design projects

Car driver with full valid UK driving licence

The working pattern for this role is Monday to Friday; 9:00-5:00
