Job Summary:

NEPTS (Non-Emergency Passenger Transport Services)


An exciting opportunity to join the Odessa Ambulance Non-Emergency Patient Transport team, delivering non-emergency patient transport at locations in the BCUHB health board area and across the UK has become available.


Please be aware, this is a physically demanding role that involves moving and handling patients in difficult and complex scenarios.


Main Role Duties

  • The post holder will be required to drive a double crew NEPTS ambulance (CAT B) or WAV as necessary.
  • The post holder will carry out nonurgent and noncritical, planned patient journeys alongside an experienced Ambulance Care Assistant.
  • The post holder will be required to record, process and understand patient information regarding conditions, mobility and care requirements.
  • The post holder will maintain an appropriate level of care for patients, relevant to their condition. This includes recognition of when additional skills or support may be needed.
  • The post holder will record accurate journey details regarding patient condition, care undertaken and observations.
  • The post holder will adhere to Company policy to ensure the control of confidential information as outlined within the data protection act.
  • The post holder will complete all relevant operational documentation, e.g. daily routine vehicle checks, patient listings and other information in accordance with Company policy and Customer requirements.
  • The post holder will maintain the vehicle in a sanitary condition in line with health & safety, clinical waste management, occupational health and clinical directorate guidelines. Ensure that all health and safety and policy is adhered to within the working environment, whether within the Companies premises or at external centres.
  • The post holder will maintain clear and regular communication with Ambulance control and other Healthcare professionals / colleagues, in line with agreed protocols.
  • The post holder will assist patients in their homes, both prior to and after transportation, ensuring they have their basic needs catered for and their homes are safe. This includes measuring, highlighting and reporting areas of risk in line with Odessa risk assessment procedures.
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications:

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum Category B Licence held for minimum of 2 years
  • Minimum Grade C in English and Maths

Desirable Criteria:

  • Category C1/ D
  • Evidence of a reasonable standard of education

Knowledge:

Desirable Criteria:

  • Evidence of moving and handling techniques
  • Basic knowledge of First Aid and the highway code
  • Good geographical knowledge of areas in North Wales
  • Good knowledge of Health and Safety
  • Evidence of working in a driving role

Experience:
