Bringing it to the role.

At KFC UK & Ireland, we are working towards becoming a
Net Zero Carbon business. We are looking
for an Environmental Operations Executive on a 9 month secondment to help us turn our
plans into action on the ground across our 1,000 restaurants. If you're an
experienced and driven operations executive with a passion for the environment,
then this is the role for you

We're hungry to become a net zero carbon business by 2040.
We're currently working on our Net Zero Roadmap, and are developing key
projects to help us decarbonise our restaurants.

You will work between our Sustainability and Operations team to implement
programmes that will help us reduce our carbon emissions waste and water, to
make our restaurants more sustainable.

This role will particularly suit someone with excellent
relationship management skills. Being able to engage and influence our
Operations, Development, and Restaurant Teams, as well as Franchisees, will be
critical to the success of the role. The ability to communicate effectively,
with impact, both verbally and in writing is essential.

What
you'll do

  • Support programmes to deliver our Net Zero
    Roadmap within our restaurants
  • Implement a new recycling system within
    restaurants
  • Support our food waste strategy, helping our
    restaurants prevent food from becoming waste, redistribute surplus food, and
    recycle food waste
  • Implement programs to help our restaurant teams and
    customers reduce packaging waste and litter and maximize recycling
  • Implement initiatives to help our restaurant teams use
    water more efficiently
  • Track
    and measure progress to identify opportunities to make improvements on
    energy saving within our restaurants
  • Liaise
    with external & internal stakeholders – including our franchise
    partners
  • Develop
    content ideas for sustainability communications both for internal and
    external audiences
  • Involvement
    in ad hoc cross functional projects
  • Attend meetings, events and seminars, representing the
    business externally where relevant.
  • Support the broader business strategy, providing
    timely and relevant content that will inform our approach across internal and
    external communications channels

About You

  • We're
    looking for someone who is really enthusiastic and passionate about what they
    do. Fire us up with the potential for
    what we could achieve in this space
  • This is a
    role that requires the ability to make an impact and influence diverse
    stakeholders. With our management team,
    Team Members in our restaurants, and our franchisees. You will need gravitas and credibility. You'll also need to be a pragmatist; the
    process of making change at such scale will take time and there will
    undoubtedly be bumps along the road.
    This is not a role for someone who's a purist who won't compromise.
  • It sounds
    trite but you'll also really need to be a people person. You'll need to be able to develop
    relationships across all functions of the business, and all levels, to find the
    right answers, or to get the help you need to deliver a project.
  • You'll have
    an understanding of the balance between the external pressures and demands of
    stakeholders – and the internal pressures of a commercial business

Experience

  • 3 years+ experience in operational management
  • Good
    subject matter knowledge of environmental impacts
  • Understanding of UK & Ireland environmental
    regulatory framework
  • Experience
    of the food & drink sector would be helpful
  • Excellent
    relationship management skills
  • Superb
    project management capabilities
  • Experience
    working within a complex organisational structure would be beneficial
  • Ability to measure and report on progress
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
    skills, particularly to bring data to life and influence decisions
  • Willingness
    to travel within the UK&I
