Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom Australian Government Department of Defence Full time

The Role

The role of Senior Transformation Officer within the Transformation Management Office (TMO) is an integral role for the successful delivery of strategic transformation within Defence Science Technology Group (DSTG). Working within a small team, the Senior Transformation Officer will provide support across various transformation and project activities, where no two days will be the same due to the diverse workload.

If you have a passion for delivering excellence in transformation, this exciting opportunity provides the ability to grow your skills by contributing to the coordination of project plans, schedules and transformation deliverables within DSTG. You will also serve as the central information hub, managing TMO enquiries from both internal and external stakeholders, using your exceptional communication skills to provide transformation guidance and information.

Key duties include:

Coordinate and contribute to transformation workshops, meetings and stakeholder forums. Assist with drafting written materials, including business cases, project plans, executive briefs, and corporate documentation for review. Collaborate with the Director and Assistant Director TMO to manage DSTG's transformation program schedule, tracking task progress and monitoring deadlines in order to report any identified or potential delays. Work collaboratively, and negotiate effectively, with stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand current DSTG policies, and to support delivery of transformation outcomes. Provide advice and assistance to stakeholders on transformation activities, project schedules, communication and change plans. Contribute to the development of change and communication products across a variety of tools to support transformation activities. Assist with the assessment and evaluation of information and processes for compliance with Defence legislation and policy, and recommend action if required. Be proactive in responding to stakeholder queries and requests, ensuring responses are provided within agreed timelines. Support delivery of continuous improvement initiatives within the branch and as part of the TMO team. About our Team
The Science Strategic Planning & Engagement Division (SSPE) plays an exciting role by strategically positioning DSTG to deliver impact for Defence. The division coordinates and develops external engagements, science policy, strategic research programs, workforce initiatives, strategic transformation and investment in DSTG's science and technology capabilities.

Situated within SSPE, the TMO is a dedicated team, which facilitates the implementation of strategic initiatives. By working together in an inclusive environment, the team achieves outcomes through coordination, scheduling, governance, and assurance activities. This contributes to successful implementation of DSTG's strategic reform initiatives, ensuring alignment to broader Defence initiatives.

By taking a shared approach, the team demonstrates their ability to work as one. They welcome and support staff, encouraging ideas, insights and opinions to empower staff to do their best, creating an inclusive and respectful workplace.

You will support and motivate the team to come together and excel in meeting organisational objectives. By possessing a desire for professional improvement, you will be committed to continuing your own self-development, utilising learning and development opportunities, professionalisation courses and on the job training.
