Your new role:
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Focus on the local daily and weekly maintenance plan for the Train Maintenance centre (TMC) in order to develop and continually refine the maintenance schedule for the IEP Class 800 fleet.
  • Review, prioritise and schedule maintenance tasks with the TMC Duty Shift Manager (DSM) in accordance with maintenance plan priorities.
  • Identify any restrictions in capacity & resource that could affect the delivery of the maintenance plan. Work with the local management and CPC to reduce the effect of the restriction.
  • Identify, coordinate and leverage resources to enable the maintenance schedule including the technical information and any material required.
  • Coordinate the work of contractors and external repair agencies into the maintenance schedule.
  • Monitor the backlog of defects in order to reduce the amount of reactive maintenance and improve reliability.
  • Be reactive to incidents, disruptions and emergencies on the operational railway and amend the maintenance schedule accordingly; record decisions to drive improvement.
  • Ensure defects inservice and emerging work is incorporated into the maintenance schedule.
  • Liaise with Planners in the Central Planning Cell (CPC); the Duty Shift Manager (DSM) and Team Leaders (TL) to agree the maintenance plan to be executed.
  • Administer and manage technical investigations to ensure timely resolution.
  • Ensuring SOROS is accurate at all times.
  • Review of all defects and correct coding in SAP in line with IEP contractual obligations.
  • Participate in the daily conference calls & planning meetings.
  • Act as the SAP super user for the TMC.
  • Maintain the fatigue index for all staff, updating in accordance with changes to the resource plan.
  • Coordinate with the Training Department to plan training and assessment while maintaining resource requirements.
  • Support the Duty Shift manager with the daytoday office management tasks.
  • Ensure all overtime, holidays, sickness and any other absence is recorded and reported.
  • Prepare reports and give verbal briefs as required.
  • Promote, support and comply with all health and safety practices in the workplace.
  • Ensure work activities for the train cleaning function are allocated to the relevant individual on shift each night and ensure that all activities are closed in SAP once the job has been completed via the tablets.
  • Ensure any notifications that are raised during are allocated to the relevant individual so that the SAP work order can be completed.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Duty Shift Manager.

Essential

  • Previous experience of scheduling maintenance and production.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to think quickly.
  • Experience of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • SAP, Maximo or Equinox.

Qualifications:

  • Vocational qualifications and experience.
Behavioural

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Capable of working in stressful environments for long periods.
Desirable

  • Intermediate IT skills

  • Previous experience of rolling stock maintenance.
