We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team, providing assistance to an adult male with a unique set of challenges, including bipolar disorder, psychosis, autism, and ADHD.


Key Responsibilities:

Routine Management:

  • Facilitate the establishment and maintenance of a calm and settled routine for the individual.
  • Provide support in daily activities to ensure stability and predictability.
  • Assist with daytoday tasks, including cleaning and organising the individuals living space.

Community Access and Engagement:

  • Assist in enabling the individual to access the community and participate in various activities.
  • Foster independence by giving choices and encouraging decisionmaking.

Socialization and Support System Expansion:

  • Actively work to enable socialization, helping the individual expand their support system.
  • Encourage and facilitate meaningful connections within the community.

Sensory Awareness:

  • Remain attentive to sensory issues and triggers that may impact the individual's wellbeing.
  • Implement strategies to create a sensoryfriendly environment.

De-escalation Techniques:

  • Maintain a calm and composed demeanour during crisis situations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar support role, particularly with individuals facing complex mental health and developmental challenges is desirable.
  • Understanding of bipolar disorder, psychosis, autism, ADHD, and associated needs.
  • Knowledge of deescalation techniques and ability to handle challenging behaviours.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to empower and encourage independence.
  • Sensitivity to sensory issues and a proactive approach to creating a supportive environment.
