Job Summary

We are in search of experienced Health Care Assistants for our facility in Exeter. This role involves assisting qualified nursing staff in safely transferring patients and delivering high-quality care in various business areas, including trust wards and private units. The ideal candidate will prioritize patient dignity, compassion, equality, and diversity while also taking on leadership responsibilities without a qualified nurse.

Main Duties of the Job

  • To assist the Operations Manager/RMN/Rota Manager in ensuring staff adherence to company policies and procedures set by Prometheus.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.

Responsibility for Resources

  • Follow company guidelines for checking vehicles and equipment before each journey.
  • Report any issues and request stock replacements to the RMN/Clinical Logistic Manager or Operations Manager.

Independence/Initiative

  • Take the lead in managing the staffing team during patient transfers.

Security

  • Take necessary precautions to ensure the welfare and safety of staff, patients, and the public by following security protocols.

Organisational

  • Contribute to the company's goals and objectives.
  • Understand and promote equality, diversity, and rights, following legislation and good practices.
  • Comply with all relevant company policies and procedures.

Communication

  • Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping according to company policy.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and staff to understand patient needs.

Our team consists of registered mental health nurses and care assistants dedicated to offering holistic and therapeutic care.

Job Description

  • To provide high-quality patient care.
  • If physical intervention is necessary, it is essential to execute this duty.
  • Drive Prometheus ambulances as needed.
  • Assist qualified nurses in safely transferring patients.
  • Ensure thorough handover of patient details from the Clinical Logistics Manager or responsible nurse.
  • Complete necessary paperwork for transfers in the absence of an RMN.
  • Provide crisis intervention during patient transfers.
  • Respond to emergencies during duty hours.
  • Be knowledgeable about safeguarding policies for children and adults.
  • Attend training, meetings, and reviews.
  • Maintain positive relationships between staff and patients.
  • Report incidents promptly to the Clinical Logistics Manager.
  • Follow uniform policies and attend base as required.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Essential Criteria

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proactive and self-motivated.
  • Strong teamwork and time management skills.
  • Valid Enhanced DBS.
  • Current experience in a compliance role.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

  • Employment references covering a 5-year period with a minimum of 3 years of UK employment.

Essential

  • Demonstrated excellent English communication skills.

Desirable

  • Healthcare-related NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent at Level 3 National Care Certificate.
