The Role:

We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to join the team in our highly regarded service at West Heath House.

West Heath House provides care and support for up to 24 adults with acquired brain injury. The service provides specialist rehabilitation based upon a psychology model for people to gain their independence. The service users have a range of cognitive, physical and/or emotional symptoms following a severe brain injury.


In this role you will work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team (including Therapy Assistants and Rehabilitation Support Workers) using the neurobehavioural model.

The focus is to provide person centred rehabilitation that is evidence based.

This is a unique community based inpatient setting led by a consultant neuropsychologist.

The service users may have a range of complex and challenging needs including cognitive, behavioural, physical and emotional difficulties following brain injury.


You will have scope to work with service users in a holistic way to address all aspects of recovery and to regain maximal independence including participation in social, leisure and vocational activities.


You will have access to a wide range of development opportunities including:

  • Reporting to and liaising with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and clinical team
  • Behavioural monitoring with observations, data gathering and analysis
  • Producing behavioural and emotional progress reports for review meetings
  • Supporting individual service users with weekly meetings and specific activities

We're looking for someone with the following skills and qualities:

  • Upper Second Class Honors Degree (2:1) or higher in psychology or equivalent
  • Eligibility for BPS (British Psychological Society) graduate registration
  • Ability to present and teach others
  • Ability to work independently and reliably
  • Experience of working with adults with complex disabilities
