Our client's Asset Finance team maintains a leading position within the space with their breadth of expertise and deep industry knowledge.

The Team

The team represent blue-chip clients including banks and borrowers, leading companies, airlines, enabling their lawyers to work in a wide spectrum of experience. Their lawyers work with core teams in the world's major financial centres and supported by the firm's international large geographic platform.

The Role

The London office of this law firm is looking for an associate who will show demonstrable enthusiasm to work in Asset Finance. You will provide guidance to clients in relation to all major types of financing for big ticket assets including Aircraft; Maritime; Rail; Infrastructure and Defence Assets.

Key areas of responsibility will include (but not limited to):

  • Structuring, documenting and negotiating innovative transactions combining different sources of financing including secured lending, tax and operating leasing, export credit finance, PPP/PFI and Islamic Finance
  • Working with other areas of the firm on deals in broader asset finance and transportation sectors.
  • Adopting best delivery tools: e.g., templates, Legal Support Centre, Resource Management, Legal Project Managers, Matter Balance Reports.
  • Being proactive to pursue and expand legal and technical knowledge and to ensure this is up to date.
  • Engaging with knowledge resources effectively and collaborating in knowledge initiatives for the Firm.
  • Managing matters with a disciplined practice - comprising of timely timesheet submission, adhering to matter opening and conflicts clearance processes.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will be a a junior to mid-level lawyer with proven experience at a top-tier law firm in a common law jurisdiction. Although strongly preferred, previous experience in asset finance is not essential.

Our client will consider those who are more specialised looking to broaden skill set and very much open to Associates from Australia and New Zealand.

You will ideally also have:

  • Excellent document drafting skills.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, along with a high level of commercial awareness.
  • Good exposure to collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Resilience in the workplace.
  • The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • The desire and ability to continuously acquire, build upon and share knowledge.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
