Governance Lead, joining our Secretariat and wider Governance team.

You'll play a big part in a small team, supporting in all matters of Executive and Board Governance.


Approachable, self motivated and with bags of energy, you'll be a dab hand at drafting documents, reports, maintaining of registers, and analysis of information / data.


Working flexibly, you'll spend most of your time working from home, with a number of must days a month in the office to take care of Group Board and Executive meetings.

You just need to be based a commutable distance from either our Haywards Heath, West Sussex or Salford Quays, Manchester offices.


You'll be the perfect person for us if:

  • You know about legal and/or corporate governance processes like the back of your hand
  • You're a full, part qualified or interested in working towards Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme
  • You're great at managing top senior stakeholders
  • Executive and Board level

Job responsibilities:

  • Support with the organisation and management of all Group Board and Executive meetings as well as other forums as required.
  • Assist in the governance and oversight of all Group Boards, Committees and additional forums as required, including writing Minutes and recording Actions and Decisions.
  • Provide general support to the Head of Company Secretary as and when required, including the drafting of governance documents, reports, maintaining of registers, and analysis of information/data.
  • Collate and draft Reporting Packs, working with all departments to coordinate inputs and assure overall quality.
  • Provide support on the reporting and coordination of Executive Committee and Board materials.
  • Assist in the renewal of the Insurance cover for employees, equipment and premises.
  • Review and maintain relevant Corporate Policies where required.
  • Comply with the requirements, and act in accordance with, the Group Code of Conduct and Fitness and Propriety policies at all times
  • Ensure compliance with Company Policies, Values and guidelines and other relevant standards/ regulations at all times,
  • Any other reasonable duties

Experience & knowledge

  • Strong experience of working in a governance and/or administration role.
  • Some knowledge or awareness of legal and/or corporate governance processes.
  • Good understanding of Commercial and Business landscapes.
  • Experience managing senior stakeholders at Executive and Board level
  • Knowledge of UK Companies Act and other relevant statutes (desirable)
  • Understanding of UK Corporate Governance Code (desirable)
  • Understanding of UK Motor Insurance industry (desirable)

Skills & Qualifications

  • Relevant professional qualifications i.e. Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme part qualified, or interested in working towards this (with support from the Company)
  • Diplomatic, personable and pragmatic.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work at pace against challenging deadlines
  • Excellent work ethic and diligence in production and ownership of work and responsibilities.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with an ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Good IT and software skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
