Ecommerce Optimisation Manager - Maternity Cover (12 months)

About Us

Our teams are putting the world's retailers online using the cloud, robotics, AI, and IoT. We provide services to partner clients globally via our innovative advanced robotics technology, known as the Ocado Smart Platform ("OSP"), this drives our highly automated, multi-million pound Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs). In our CFCs - together with the proprietary software applications - we operate a world-class online grocery business that automates the single pick of products, ready for your online delivery.

About the role

The eCommerce Optimisation Manager will work closely with our retail Partners to drive feature optimisation and performance of the OSP Ecommerce platform by utilising data and making specific recommendations that directly support commercial outcomes. They will serve as a subject matter expert on OSP ecommerce functionality and best practice, both internally and externally, working closely with internal stakeholders including partner success and technology.

The role will require:
  • Being a data champion. Working with our analyst team to help create and refine key reports and dashboards that enable recommendations and decisions to be made.
  • Being close to key trading and merchandising strategies across both webshop and app, optimising for each to support specific business goals and requirements.
  • Having a customer obsessed focus, appreciating the nuances for grocery retailing online and how OSP can support it.
  • Being highly motivated by creating lasting impact and change across our Partner portfolio.
  • Being deeply familiar with ecommerce functionality, understanding how the Ocado Smart Platform works and how it can be configured and optimised around ecommerce KPIs and objectives.
  • Working with partners to identify and prioritise opportunities to test and optimise OSP configuration to improve commercial metrics. Specifically across site search and checkout.
  • Confidence at creating recommendations based on data and presenting them to both internal and external senior stakeholders.
  • Helping to generate a comprehensive knowledge base which helps support the partner success team itself and our partners in their understanding and use of the OSP platform.
This is an entrepreneurial role, and requires someone who is comfortable identifying new opportunities, and setting up new programs that deliver value to our partners.

  • Exposure to and a deep understanding of key ecommerce metrics and best practice, specifically those that influence trading, merchandising and customer behaviour metrics.
  • Fast learner, comfortable upskilling on new systems and technologies.
  • Able to translate and transfer knowledge effectively.
  • Comfortable working with large and remote teams and stakeholders.
  • Highly analytical, comfortable using data to influence decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills at all levels, including strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload against business/project requirements and key customers/Partners
  • Customer oriented, able to build strong relationships with our partners, and understand their business context
  • Self-motivated, able to deliver under deadlines and multi-task under pressure
  • BA/BSc degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • Happy to travel to see our retail partners on occasion.

  • Experience of working in a client facing support organisation
  • Full current driving licence
  • Hand on experience with the Ocado Smart Platform
  • Retail/Grocery industry knowledge desirable
