This local school requires a Compliance Manager to work closely with the Bursar, Senior Deputy Heads, Support Services Managers and Head to ensure that the school is compliant with the regulatory frameworks in which it operates, maintainingexcellentrecording systems in all relevant areas, and implementing robust monitoring and reporting systems.

You will engage with the detail of all aspects of compliance including complex regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
Ensure the School remains up-to-date and fully compliant with all appropriate regulations.

These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Independent Schools Standards and Regulations; Keeping Children Safe in Educations; (KCSIE); EYFS statutory framework and wider legislation
  • Data Protection and GDPR
  • Employment and Finance
  • Management/operational (antibribery; antimoney laundering; licencing; copyright: parent contracts; contracts for services)
  • Governance (Charity Commission, Companies Act)
  • General sector wide guidance including that issued by DfE
  • Provide advice and guidance to policy owners on any legislative changes not limited to the regulations above.
  • Work with senior staff to advise on and, if required, to develop systems and practices to ensure these guidelines and legislation are implemented.
  • Communicate with and report to the Charity Commission.
  • Communicate with and report to the School's insurers.
  • Liaising with external advisors, legal experts etc to obtain specialist advice and guidance where necessary including consultation with legal advisors as required to resolve compliance, contract and/or legal issues.
  • Act as a sounding board on legal issues including contractual matters pertaining to the School and its subsidiaries.
  • Promote a culture of compliance amongst staff through training and timely response to queries.
  • Maintain uptodate, detailed and clear records of compliance in relevant areas, and oversee the keeping of excellent records in areas overseen by other members of staff.
  • Monitor and audit compliance practices to ensure that they are fully and consistently implemented, and that excellent records are kept to demonstrate compliance.
  • Complaint recording and processing including maintaining the complaints log and assisting with the complaints process.
  • Initiate (where necessary), develop, maintain and review the School's policies on an ongoing basis and ensure statutory policies are in place and uptodate, working with other staff to ensure that the ongoing policy review process is implemented in a timelyand effective manner.
  • Maintain the policy review register and accurately record policy amendments, version control, policy approval, scheduling of policy updates and the maintenance of a policy archive.
  • Work closely with the Senior Deputies and Head of the Junior School to ensure that documents required for ISI inspections are up to date.
  • Oversee process for compilation of documentation required for compliance inspections.
  • Assist with the compilation of documentation required for educational quality inspections.
  • With Senior Deputies and Head of the Junior School, make arrangements for the smooth running of inspection visits.
  • Conduct audits of key areas of ISI compliance including but not limited to Single Central Register, admissions and attendance records, premises and health and safety records, safeguarding, pupil recording, data protection and money laundering, antibullyingbehaviour and conduct, complaints and incidents, antibribery behaviour and conduct.
  • Provide regular compliance reports to senior management and for meetings for the governing body.
  • Assist senior staff in the preparation and provision of any necessary papers and/or reports to relevant governance committees. Attend any committees as required.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk and develop action plans for the mitigation of those risks and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
