Ripley, Derbyshire, United Kingdom Trauma in Mind Ltd Full time

Job description
Ready for a new challenge? Passionate about working with children...

Join our team. We are an expanding organisation and looking for motivated, inspiring and interesting people to grow with us.

About us

Trauma in Mind is a small organisation that aims to provide a loving and nurturing alternative to a family home.

We specialise in the restorative care of children who have experienced developmental trauma and difficult childhood experiences, helping young minds to reach their full potential.

Our home is based near Ripley in Derbyshire for three children and young people. There is a plan to open a second home in the first half of 2023. We are looking for people who can stay with us and grow with us.

Our Ethos

The ethos and values of Trauma in Mind have arisen from an in-depth understanding of the effects of attachment and developmental trauma on the immature brain.

We can't erase trauma, but, we believe people can grow and thrive in spite of it.

Our core values reflect what it takes to thrive following trauma:

  • Trust
  • Repair and reflection
  • Acceptance
  • Understanding
  • Mindfulness
  • Accountability
Developmental trauma and disruptions in attachment can permeate every aspect of brain development.

They effect biology and emotional regulation, cognition and reflective functioning, the ability to engage with the present and the integration of the self.

Resultantly, children may not develop trust and a lack of safe relationships impacts their overall development.

We expect every colleague to role-model our values and enact an attitude of playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy (PACE). In doing so, we promote regulation, reflection, accountability and ensure that any rupture of relationships are quickly repaired.

Our aim is to support loving and nurturing alternatives to family home with an emphasis on maintaining a structured and predictable environment that fosters a sense of safety and security.

TiM believes in a positive future for all children. We have the confidence that hard work and determination will lead to post-traumatic growth and resilience.
