Who we're looking for

  • This is a core business change role within the Corporate Change function, not a technology delivery role. Whilst the ability to partner with technology is essential, the core role is for the Senior Change Consultant is to work with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand and define the business need; analyse and shape initiatives, define solution options and engage in delivery. Another key part of the role is to identify thematic requirements across the corporate divisions in order to create efficiencies in delivering across multiple initiatives.
  • An experienced change consultant with the ability to work with senior stakeholders, functional leads and technology resources to deliver tangible outcomes for Schroders
  • A strategic as well as delivery focussed individual, with experience of infrastructure back office functions, specifically within financial services institutions.

The base

The team

The Corporate Change function covers a large number of infrastructure functions of the Schroders Group headed up by the Chief Financial Officer, Group General Counsel, Chief Risk Officer and Global Head of Human Resources. Explicitly these functions are: Finance; Procurement; Tax; Treasury; HR; Risk and Compliance; Internal Audit; Legal; and Company Secretariat.

The team works together to deliver a portfolio of work across these functions on assignments which may include:

Strategy:

  • Using strategy formation approaches to facilitate the definition of business strategies through working with relevant business stakeholders
  • Development of vision statements and business models for discrete business areas
  • Research initiated to address gaps in knowledge relating to a specific business issue.

Operating Models:

  • The creation of Target Operating Models (TOMs) for discrete business domains and functions, using standard Schroders methodology
  • Business analysis to support capability design, process analysis and organisational transformation.

Change Management:

  • Creation of business cases for initiatives under consideration, with the aim of concluding on the potential value add / cost-benefit analysis of embarking on that initiative. (Encompasses financial analysis, definition of business drivers, assessment of risks etc.)
  • Advisory to the Steering Committee for projects / programmes of work with the aim of ensuring successful delivery and maintenance of strategic programme objectives
  • Partnering with business and programme teams to clarify priorities, stakeholder management, design governance, and TOM implementation activities.
  • Advisory on the Schroders' Change portfolio, and creation of high-level plans / roadmaps to implement change.

What you'll do

  • Work with Stakeholders, Solution Architect(s) and Group Technology to shape relevant projects for the Corporate functions
  • Manage projects/workstreams to a defined scope, budget and timeline
  • Provide analysis services to support business and/or technical change including: Analysis and documentation of requirements; Producing structured functional specifications, user stories; Facilitation and running of workshops; Business Architecture and Operational model design; Identification and analysis of solution options
  • Take personal ownership and lead delivery of a large and/or complex change projects or workstreams
  • Work as part of the Corporate change team to deliver the overall Corporate Change portfolio in an efficient and effective way
  • Build positive relationships with senior level stakeholders within the organisation.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

  • Over 6 years of experience in a (management) consultancy role, or as high-performing change professional
  • Analytical, strategic thinkers who are able to digest large amounts of complex information, bring structure, and distil insights down to concise, clear outputs
  • Self-starter with ability to prioritise and manage own activities and ability to work independently
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Effective relationship builders, who can develop strong relationships across the whole organisation, and establish a role as trusted advisor to Heads of Departments and Business Change Managers
  • Strong communicators, with the gravitas to present to senior business and IT stakeholders
  • Collaborative team player at team, function, department and organisation level who will want to succeed as part of a high performing team
  • Experience of Target Operating Model (TOM) design
  • Proven track record of business process analysis, design and implementation of process and system implementations across corporate functions
  • Experience of documenting to-be business processes
  • Ability to analyse requirements and create functional specification documents
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft tools including Excel, Visio and Powerpoint.

  • Experience of delivering complex projects
  • Experience of managing across business and technical competencies
  • Experience of working in Financial Services organisations, specifically asset management
  • Confident to challenge the status quo and freely express own opinion
  • Critical thinking to identify risks and mitigations in proposing solutions
  • Ability to plan own workload in an environment with changing priorities
  • Excellent understanding of the business context of the change agenda, specifically within Corporate functions.

Desirable skills

  • Experience of working with multi-regional stakeholders and teams
  • Educated to a minimum of first / Bachelors degree
  • Professional or higher level degree qualifications (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, CFA)
  • Investment Management Certificate (IMC)
  • Relevant Change Management qualifications (e.g. Agile/Scrum, Prince II).
