Job Duties:

Do you have experience of working with children and families and would like to make a difference in Adoption and Fostering ?

The Adoption & Fostering Recruitment Team is a part of Hertfordshire's Children's & Families Specialist Services. As such the Adoption & Fostering Recruitment team sits within the Adoption Service.

The Adoption Service is made up of 5 county wide teams which each play their part in facilitating and supporting the most vulnerable children in the community to achieve the stability and security of an adoptive family.

We are proud members of the Adopt East Regional Adoption Alliance. The team also works very closely with other teams including Fostering, Family and Friends and Shared Care.

Be a point of contact for the recruitment campaigns dealing with enquiries personally. Giving appropriate advice, guidance and information

  • To plan, organise and deliver local recruitment events, which includes open evenings and community events providing advice and information to potential foster carers
  • To attend recruitment meetings and contribute to recruitment plans and reviews of recruitment campaigns
  • Assist in producing reports and analysis on recruitment data, collecting statistical information and evaluating recruitment activities
  • To record information manually and on computer to maintain uptodate information
  • To develop positive relationships with a variety of internal and external organisations
  • To undertake a range of recruitment tasks as required
  • To work flexibly, including out of hours
Also you will be attending events in the community to recruit people to adopt and foster.

  • Ability to communicate confidently with a variety of audiences including the general public professional teams and partners
  • Basic awareness of fostering recruitment and retention
  • Awareness of Fostering Regulation 2002 and National Foster Care Standards.
  • Experience of forming positive relationships with a variety of internal and external organisations
  • Good organisational skills
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Ability to write reports
  • Experience of learning new skills and translating learning into practice
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teams and partner agencies
  • Basic awareness of best practice in the recruitment and retention of foster carers
  • Ability to understand the need for good foster carers to meet the needs of Children Looked After
It would be helpful if you have some knowledge of children's development and the impact of trauma.

Driving Roles Only:

As part of this role, you will be required to travel to other HCC Sites/Residences either using your own mode of transport or a company car.

English Fluency:

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post (for those whose language is a signed language the provision of a sign language interpreter who speaks English to the necessary standard of fluency will be required).
