About the role


The Learner Services Team are looking to recruit motivated and enthusiastic Learner Coach to work directly with learners to provide pastoral support.

As a Learner Coach you will deliver positive interventions and support to improve learners attendance, motivation, behaviour, retention and wellbeing.


Key responsibilities include:

  • To build positive relationships with learners to ensure College expectations of behaviour and standards are being met.
  • With tutors, identify learners at risk of withdrawal or non achievement and agree targeted interventions and support.
  • Engage with parents/carers.
  • Monitor absence trends and work with targeted learners to identify and remove barriers to engagement and attendance, with a particular focus on English and maths.
  • Support with the delivery of positive activities and tutorial sessions.
  • Refer learners to specialist internal and external support services as appropriate.
  • To actively participate in the antibullying team.

About the person

  • Relevant level 3 specialist qualification such as youth work or willing to work towards.
  • Positive interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to learners and deal professionally with colleagues and external agencies.
  • The ability to remain calm during conflict.
  • The ability to work on own initiative and also as part of a team.
