Job description


We're at the start of our journey and have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant, reporting to the Finance Manager to join the team.

Bradford district's year of culture is set to deliver more than 1,000 new performances and events including 365 artist commissions, a series of major arts festivals and major national and international collaborations.

To do this we need a team of dedicated, passionate, and enthusiastic people.

You will be responsible for all sales and purchase ledger transactions, aged debt, petty cash and bank reconciliations.

The successful applicant will be well organised, have excellent attention to detail, have worked with financial management systems, a desire to seek continual systems and process improvements and be diligent and methodical.


Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Finance Manager to manage all accounting operations.
  • Sales Ledger activities allocating payments and chasing outstanding invoices.
  • Purchase Ledger activities processing invoices and supplier payments and reconciling supplier statements.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Participating in month end and year end tasks as required and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • General journal processing
  • Credit card reconciliations.
  • VAT returns
  • Complete full bank postings (direct debits) ensuring invoices are requested when needed.
  • Petty Cash reconciliations and postings.

You will have:

  • AAT level 2 qualified or qualified by experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience of using financial management systems experience of Xero would be desirable but not essential.
  • Proficiency with Excel/google sheets.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Be able to communicate with people at all levels.
  • The ability to organise and prioritise.
