Do you want to make a difference in children's lives? Join our client's team as a Children Support Worker. You'll work closely with families affected by domestic abuse, providing personalised support, organising activities, and promoting well-being.

Role info:

Working hours: 35 Hours per week

Flexible working: Could include some evening and weekend work

Pay rate: £14.01 per hour, including holiday pay

Contract length: ASAP until at least the end of November 2024

Qualifications: Must have childcare qualifications such as BTEC, NNEB, NVQ, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual support to children and families in refuge accommodation
  • Facilitate decisionmaking and promote independence
  • Deliver engaging workshops and group sessions for children ranging from birth to 17 years
  • Play sessions
  • Homework club
  • Attending holiday club
  • Planning and delivering halfterm sessions
  • Working with moms and external agencies
  • Ensure the wellbeing and safety of service users at all times
  • Communicate effectively with victims of abuse over the phone and facetoface
  • Cover the office and be the face of the service
  • Communicate with external agencies, service users, and visitors
  • Use IT packages effectively
  • Lead, chair, organise meetings, and type minutes for meetings

Essential Experience:

  • Must have childcare qualifications such as BTEC, NNEB, NVQ, etc.
  • Preferably have previous experience working in a nursery, as a teaching assistant, or in a family centre
  • Enhanced DBS issued within last 12 months or on update service
  • Be able to communicate effectively with victims of abuse
  • Able to be creative and plan activities
  • Able to lead, chair, organise meetings, and type minutes for meetings
  • 2 written references from previous employers are required
