About the role

As the school's Assistant Principal for Sixth Form, you will join our Senior Leadership Team and be responsible for:

  • Developing the profile of the Sixth Form across the Academy and Community, creating a scholarly Sixth Form with an ethos of achievement
  • Making a leading contribution to the development of the Sixth Form Curriculum offer in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Ensuring enrichment opportunities are provided as part of the Sixth Form offer
  • Taking a leading role in Sixth Form Quality Assurance, in conjunction with the Vice Principals
  • Overseeing and leading on the UCAS process for Years 12 and 13 and post A Level cohort.
  • Leading and organising the Sixth Form Higher Education programme in conjunction with the Head of Careers, including the preparation, checking and submission of UCAS references, building relationships with university admissions tutors and raising the awareness of Years 10 and 11 students of the criteria for university entry.
  • Providing support for students applying for courses other than via UCAS, as well as alternative pathways such as apprenticeships.
  • Confirming Higher Education choices and coordinate post-examination results support and guidance for students.
  • Leading on marketing and public relations with our central comms team to promote develop the sixth form.
  • Leading, with the assistance of the sixth form coordinator, the admissions and induction process for Sixth Form.

This is a full-time position.

About our Academy

At Malcolm Arnold Academy, we ensure that all teachers and leaders are able to draw on the sources of scholarly authority and reservoir of thought and practice that have been developed within their specialist subject communities though our Trust- wide subject and leadership communities. This involves engagement for teachers with their wider subject education community through subject associations, subject education journals, subject specific CPD on curriculum development and teaching. It also involves refreshing and constant renewal of subject knowledge, through reading and discussing scholarship, engaging in contemporary debates, and developing our own practice as teachers.
