Senior Digital Designer (12 months FTC)


Reporting to the Head of Digital Design, this role is responsible for delivering beautiful and engaging UI that makes O2 famous for being easy to do business with.

You will work alongside UX managers, developers, product owners, and content/editorial teams to translate experiences into pixel-perfect interfaces across multiple platforms and devices.

You will be responsible for the delivery of design assets across , its associated apps, 3rd party websites, and the governance of the website.


As Senior Digital Designer You clearly understand and are able to articulate, the limitations and possibilities of designing within digital channel technologies.

You can demonstrate conceptual thinking, the ability to follow directions, maintain brand consistency, and work on multiple projects simultaneously with speed and efficiency.

You should thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, and have the ability to both work on your own and as part of a team.

You should also have an understanding of business and creative strategy with the ability to communicate and report on the progress of projects and tasks back to the wider business.


Key responsibilities:

  • Production of digital assets to support the website including page compositions, banners, and icons.
  • Can confidently present design solutions to key stakeholders, leveraging relationships and influencing key decisions.
  • Support our website governance process, including responsibility for Brand and Legal compliance and adherence to web standards & accessibility
  • Intimately understand and anticipate consumer needs, digital trends, and business objectives to ensure the experience meets customer and business requirements.
  • Ability to solve complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions and considers impact beyond immediate role.
  • Continually optimise and improve the digital experience by leveraging customer insight across all touchpoints, embedding a culture of "testing, learning and improving"
  • Balance the commercial needs of Telefonica UK by producing a digital interface that is exciting and inspiring and hits agreed commercial targets.
  • Use standard tools (such as Sketch, Photoshop, and Illustrator) to provide expertly crafted UI and annotations to support projects in development.
  • Work collaboratively with the UX and Copy teams to produce seamless experiences that are complete for production.
  • Work closely with the Creative Team Leads to plan and prioritise assigned projects
  • Work closely with development teams to manage the design process, drive decisions, track design issues, and ensure that design specifications are implemented.
  • Effectively communicate conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale both verbally and visually.
  • Ensuring a consistent, quality, and onbrand experience are delivered across all product and services across multiple digital interfaces.
The must-haves

  • 5+ years designing digital and mobile/touch experiences.
  • Extensive experience of creation tools, including (but not limited to): Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, Zepplin, InVision, etc.
  • Expert in interface design, image manipulation, and excellent typography skills.
  • Experience with prototyping tools and software with the ability to animate and produce interactive prototypes using tools such as Adobe After Effects, Flinto/Principle.
  • Understanding of accessibility and the latest web technologies.
  • Creative problemsolver with the ability to work with a blank slate and inspire others.
  • Track record working in Agile and Waterfall environments, working to deadlines, and prioritising multiple tasks effectively.
  • A strong communicator, passionate about Design, and able to enthuse others.
Works independently; receives mínimal guidance and direction.
